The Awakening of Divine Consciousness: Jesus’ Return, Spiritual Warfare, and the Alchemic Truth of “As Above, So Below”

Updated: Jan 10

Humanity is at a turning point. The world is experiencing chaos on many levels: natural disasters, social division, and moral decay. For those attuned to the deeper truths of existence, these events are not random; they are signs of something far greater unfolding. At the heart of this upheaval lies a profound spiritual truth: Jesus’ return is not simply a physical event, but an awakening of divine consciousness within humanity.

This awakening is intricately tied to the ancient principle of duality expressed in the phrase: “As above, so below; as within, so without; as in earth, so in heaven.” This statement reflects the interconnectedness of all things, where the spiritual and physical realms mirror one another. When Jesus taught about the kingdom of God and the “I Am” presence within us, He was pointing to this very truth. To understand Jesus’ return, we must explore this duality and how it manifests in scripture, the world around us, and the battle between light and darkness.

The Duality of Creation: As Above, So Below; As Within, So Without; As in Earth, So in Heaven

The phrase “as above, so below; as within, so without; as in earth, so in heaven” finds its roots in ancient alchemy, but its principles resonate deeply with biblical teachings. It reflects the idea that the spiritual and physical worlds are interconnected. What happens in one realm is reflected in the other.

Scripture often illustrates this duality. In Matthew 6:10, Jesus teaches us to pray: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Here, Jesus emphasizes the unity between heaven and earth, urging believers to align the earthly realm with God’s divine will.

Similarly, Genesis 1:27 states, “God created mankind in His own image.” This affirms that humanity is a reflection of the divine, carrying within us the essence of God’s spirit. Just as heaven mirrors earth, so too do our inner lives reflect the world around us. When we live in alignment with God’s will, we manifest harmony; when we stray, chaos ensues.

This principle also speaks to the transformative power of Christ. In John 15:5, Jesus says, “I am the vine; you are the branches.” This imagery reflects the connection between the divine source (above) and humanity (below). Just as a vine nourishes its branches, our spiritual alignment with Christ sustains and transforms us.

The Awakening to the “I Am”

Central to Jesus’ teachings is the declaration of the “I Am.” In John 8:58, He proclaims, “Before Abraham was, I Am.” This statement reveals His eternal nature as one with God. It also invites humanity to recognize the divine “I Am” within themselves.

When Jesus says in Luke 17:21, “The kingdom of God is within you,” He is pointing to the truth that heaven is not a distant place but a state of consciousness. To awaken to the “I Am” within is to realize our divine nature, which connects us to God and enables us to manifest His kingdom on earth.

This awakening bridges the gap between heaven and earth. As we align with the “I Am,” we embody the alchemic truth: “as above, so below; as within, so without; as in earth, so in heaven.” The more we reflect God’s light within, the more it manifests in the world around us.

Signs of Awakening in the World Today

The fires in Los Angeles, floods, earthquakes, and other disasters are not merely natural events; they are spiritual signs. In Matthew 24:7, Jesus warns, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.” These events signal the birth pains of a new era, as described in Romans 8:22: “The whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.”

These disasters reflect the imbalance within humanity. Just as our spiritual disconnection leads to personal turmoil, it also manifests in the environment. However, these events also serve as catalysts for awakening, urging us to turn back to God and realign with His divine order.

Spiritual Warfare and the Forces of Darkness

At the same time, we are engaged in spiritual warfare. In Ephesians 6:12, Paul writes, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness.” This battle is not just symbolic; it is a real conflict between forces of light and darkness, good and evil.

Demonic influences manifest through individuals, systems, and ideologies that oppose God’s will. These forces seek to divide, deceive, and destroy. However, Jesus’ return—both as a future event and a present awakening—brings light that exposes and overcomes this darkness.

The Kingdom of God Within

Jesus’ teachings repeatedly emphasize the internal transformation necessary for external change. In Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This renewal of the mind—an inner alignment with the truth of God—is the foundation for manifesting His kingdom on earth. The phrase “as within, so without” speaks to this principle: what we cultivate within ourselves will inevitably reflect in the world around us.

When Jesus proclaimed in Luke 17:21, “The kingdom of God is within you,” He was not describing a distant realm but an internal reality. This reality is unlocked when we awaken to the divine “I Am” within us. By living in alignment with God’s will, we become conduits of His light, love, and truth, bringing heaven to earth.

The duality of “as in earth, so in heaven” reminds us that humanity plays an active role in this process. God’s will is for the earth to reflect the harmony and perfection of heaven, and this begins with our individual and collective transformation.

Heaven on Earth: The Reconciliation of Duality

In the Book of Revelation, John describes a future where duality is reconciled, and heaven and earth are united as one. Revelation 21:1-4 says, “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away… God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and He will dwell with them. They will be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

This vision represents the ultimate fulfillment of “as above, so below.” The separation between the spiritual and physical realms dissolves, and God’s presence is fully realized among humanity. This is not only a future event but also a process that begins now, as we align ourselves with God’s will and work to manifest His kingdom on earth.

The reconciliation of duality is also reflected in Jesus’ prayer in John 17:21: “That they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us.” Jesus desires unity—not just between humanity and God, but within humanity itself. This unity is the essence of heaven on earth, where the “I Am” within each person reflects the eternal light of God.

The Role of Natural Disasters in Revelation’s Prophecies

The fires in Los Angeles, hurricanes, floods, and other natural disasters are not coincidental; they are part of a greater spiritual narrative. Matthew 24:6-8 says, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars… Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains.”

These “birth pains” are a prelude to the new heaven and new earth described in Revelation. They reflect the groaning of creation as it awaits redemption, as noted in Romans 8:22: “We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.”

While these events bring destruction and suffering, they also serve as reminders of humanity’s disconnection from God’s will. They urge us to repent, realign with God, and work toward restoring the balance between heaven and earth.

The Spiritual Battle Against Darkness

In the midst of these events, we are also engaged in an intense spiritual battle. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness.”

This battle is evident in the rise of moral decay, division, and violence. Demonic influences work through people and systems to sow chaos and destruction, opposing God’s plan for unity and peace. As Christians, we are called to stand firm in this battle, equipped with the armor of God: truth, righteousness, faith, and the Word of God (Ephesians 6:13-17).

However, the ultimate victory belongs to Christ. In John 1:5, we are reminded: “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” By awakening to the “I Am” within and living in alignment with God’s will, we become vessels of this light, overcoming darkness with truth and love.

The Alchemic Truth of “As Above, So Below; As Within, So Without; As in Earth, So in Heaven”

The phrase “as above, so below; as within, so without; as in earth, so in heaven” encapsulates the interconnectedness of all things. It reflects the divine order established by God, where the spiritual and physical realms mirror one another.

When we understand this truth, we realize that our inner transformation is key to external change. As we awaken to the “I Am” within and align with God’s will, we become agents of His kingdom, manifesting heaven on earth.

This principle is beautifully illustrated in Colossians 3:2: “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” By focusing on the divine, we align our thoughts, actions, and desires with God’s plan, creating harmony between heaven and earth.

Following the Stars: Biblical and Spiritual Significance of Celestial Signs

Throughout history, humanity has looked to the stars for guidance, meaning, and connection to the divine. In the Bible, stars are repeatedly used as symbols of direction, prophecy, and revelation, tying into the greater spiritual truth that they often signify moments of birth, destiny, and divine intervention.

The Star of Bethlehem: A Sign of Jesus’ Birth

In Matthew 2:1-2, the wise men from the East—known as the Magi—followed the Star of Bethlehem to Jerusalem, seeking the newborn King:

“After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the East came to Jerusalem and asked, ‘Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.’”

The Magi were not just astronomers; they were seekers of divine truth. In their journey, the star became a celestial announcement of Jesus’ birth, fulfilling the ancient prophecy in Numbers 24:17:

“A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel.”

This prophecy, spoken by Balaam, foretold the arrival of a Messiah—a king who would bring light to a world in spiritual darkness. The Star of Bethlehem served as the divine confirmation of this event, marking the birth of Jesus, the Savior of the world.

But the significance of this star goes beyond mere navigation. The Star of Bethlehem signifies the way stars have always been tied to birth and divine destiny. The star marked not only the physical location of Christ but also His role as the eternal light, guiding humanity toward salvation. In the same way that we look to our own birth stars and alignments to reflect who we are and our purpose, the Magi followed a star that illuminated the purpose of all creation—the coming of Christ.

Stars as Signifiers of Birth and Divine Timing

The Bible and ancient traditions frequently connect stars with birth and the unfolding of destiny. The Magi’s knowledge of the stars wasn’t accidental; they understood that celestial bodies often heralded great moments in history. Similarly, our own birth times are linked to the positioning of the stars and planets, which many believe hold insight into our personality, purpose, and life’s trajectory.

This connection between stars and birth mirrors the divine design of creation. In Genesis 1:14, God created the stars with a purpose:

“And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days, and years.’”

The heavens were created as both a physical and spiritual guide, marking time and pointing humanity to divine truths. From the Star of Bethlehem to the stars we are born under, celestial signs remind us that God’s plans are written both in the cosmos and in our hearts.

The Alchemic Truth: As Above, So Below, As Within, So Without

The phrase “as above, so below, as within, so without, as in earth, so in heaven” reflects a profound spiritual principle that aligns with Biblical truths. It suggests that the order and meaning found in the heavens (above) reflect the spiritual truths within our souls (below). This principle is evident in the way stars are used in Scripture as markers of both divine will and human destiny.

The Magi’s journey embodies this truth. They followed the celestial sign (above) that led them to Jesus, who was born to transform hearts and bring salvation (below). In the same way, our lives reflect this duality. Just as the heavens declare the glory of God, our inner lives—our thoughts, intentions, and faith—mirror the divine order and purpose written into creation.

The North Star: A Symbol of Constant Guidance

While the North Star is not directly mentioned in the Bible, its symbolism resonates with the theme of divine direction. Just as travelers have historically relied on the North Star to find their way, believers trust in God’s guidance to navigate the uncertainties of life. This concept is beautifully reflected in Proverbs 3:5-6:

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

The North Star can also be seen as a metaphor for Christ Himself, who declared in John 14:6:

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Just as the Magi followed the Star of Bethlehem, we are called to follow Christ, the eternal “light of the world” (John 8:12). His light shines as a constant reminder of hope, salvation, and divine purpose.

Birth Stars, Destiny, and Spiritual Warfare

The ancient practice of following stars to understand birth and destiny echoes the deeper spiritual realities of the world we live in. Today, we see a duality at play—“as above, so below”—that reminds us of the ongoing spiritual warfare between light and darkness. Just as the Star of Bethlehem marked the birth of the Light of the World, the enemy seeks to obscure this light and sow confusion in the hearts of humanity.

The stars remind us that we are part of a greater cosmic plan. As Psalm 19:1 states:

“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

We are not only connected to the physical universe but also to the spiritual truths it reflects. Each star, each birth, and each moment of divine timing points to a God who is actively involved in His creation, guiding us to fulfill our purpose while standing firm against the forces of darkness.

The Bible’s use of stars—from the Star of Bethlehem to the prophecies in Numbers—reveals the interconnectedness of the cosmos, divine truth, and human destiny. Stars have always been markers of birth and purpose, reflecting God’s intricate plan for creation. Whether through the guiding light of the Star of Bethlehem or the steadfast direction of the North Star, the heavens remind us of the spiritual truths written within and around us: as above, so below, as within, so without, as in earth, so in heaven.

By looking to the stars, both ancient and modern, we find not only guidance but also an invitation to awaken to the divine light that shines in the world—and within our own hearts.

Conclusion: A Call to Awaken

We live in extraordinary times. The natural disasters, spiritual warfare, and moral challenges we face are not merely obstacles; they are opportunities for transformation. They remind us of the duality we inhabit: as above, so below; as within, so without; as in earth, so in heaven.

Jesus’ return is both a future promise and a present reality. It is the awakening of divine consciousness within humanity, where the “I Am” within each of us unites us with God’s eternal plan. As we align with this truth, we fulfill the prayer Jesus taught us: “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

Let us embrace this awakening, stand firm in the spiritual battle, and work to manifest God’s kingdom on earth. For the time has come to bridge the gap between heaven and earth, spirit and matter, and live as reflections of the divine. As Jesus declared in John 14:20: “You will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.” This is the ultimate reconciliation, where heaven and earth become one, and God’s presence is fully realized among us.
